Object output data
- One-story residential building measuring 10 × 8 m.;
- There is no basement;
- The structural scheme is frameless, spatial rigidity is provided by longitudinal and transverse load-bearing walls.
Structural elements
- Foundations – strip, made of rubble stone and brick;
- External walls – brick;
- Partitions – brick and wooden;
- Ceiling – wooden.
The owner recently purchased a house and, while planning renovations, noticed cracks in the exterior walls. In order not to delay the planned renovations, the owner decided to act quickly and contacted our specialists.
A damage inspection revealed that the cracks indicated internal stresses due to subsidence of the foundation. In order to distribute the load, add the necessary strength, and restore the structural integrity of the structure, it was chosen to reinforce the problem areas with Stati-Bar spiral rods.
The technology allows you to increase the rigidity of the masonry without significant intervention in the structure and without changing the appearance of the building, which is especially important before the start of renovations or during the operation of the facility.
How does it work?
In the crack zone, gaps are made in the horizontal seams of the masonry.
Stati-Bar pre-stressed spiral rods are installed in them, which: work in tension, “stitch” the cracked masonry, redistribute local stresses, and increase the crack resistance of the wall.
Unlike rigid steel plates, spiral rods have high adhesion to the mortar and work together with the masonry as a single composite system “masonry-mortar-reinforcement”.
They are able to perceive minor micro deformations, preventing the cracks from reopening.
Thus, a hidden reinforced belt is formed in the plane of the wall, which does not affect the appearance of the facade.
Stages of work on the site
- marking according to the reinforcement design scheme;
- cutting out the grooves in the horizontal masonry joints to the required depth;
- thorough cleaning of the cavities;
- filling with a special injection compound;
- installation of Stati-Bar spiral rods with control of their location;
- closing the grooves and restoring the surface.
The entire scope of work was completed in just 1 calendar day without the residents having to be evicted or any large-scale dismantling, which was very important for the homeowner.
Result
As a result of the reinforcement, further crack development was stopped, and the loads were distributed evenly, which ensures stable and predictable operation of the structures in the future.
When should you think about reinforcement?
- Cracks appear in the masonry;
- Cracks gradually increase;
- The house is frameless, with brick walls;
- Renovation or reconstruction is planned;
- Cracks reappear after renovation.
